FAQs with Principal Burton
Principal Burton has provided to the SWES PTO a comprehensive list of questions and answers many parents ask her about at the beginning of the school year. If you're a Weller veteran or a new parent the below will provide useful insight into Weller.
1. How many students go to SWES?
Answer: 600+
2. What time does my child have to get to school?
Answer: School starts at 7:30am
3. When does school end?
Answer: Students are dismissed at 2:15pm
4. How do I drop off my child if he or she doesn’t ride the bus?
Answer: In the morning, parents/guardians drop off students in the car loop outside the gymnasium. You pull up to the stop sign and staff members will assist by opening the car door and helping your child get out of the car safely. If you arrive after the bell at 7:30am, you will need to park in a parking space; show your id; and bring your child to the office for an admit. You enter the reason for your child being tardy into the attendance computer; your child receives an admit slip that is given to the classroom teacher.
5. How do I pick my child up early from school?
Answer: Park your car in a parking space; do not park along the curb; show your id; enter the office and tell the staff your child’s name and the teacher. You will enter a reason into the attendance computer for the early dismissal. Do not pick up your child for early dismissal after 2:00.
6. How do I pick up my children after school?
Answer: If you walk, you will meet your children at the east side of the building. If you are picking up your students via car, you will enter the car loop but you will wait until after the day care vans have exited. A staff member will ask for ID if he or she does not recognize you and will call your child’s name. The child will then be dismissed from the gym.
7. What is ParentVue?
Answer: ParentVue is the parent portal to the student information system. You can see your child’s grades and attendance. This is where you read and acknowledge the LCPS Students’ Rights and Responsbilities handbook. Complete the emergency contact information and update your phone number/address.
8. How do I find out my child’s bus stop?
Answer: Once you log into ParentVue, you can see the time, the bus stop, and the bus number! You will also see what time your child will be dropped off at the end of the day.
9. What is the best way for me to communicate with my child’s teacher?
Answer: Email the teacher or call school and leave a message for the teacher to call you after school.
10. How do I notify my child’s teacher that I want a change in dismissal on
a specific day?
Answer: Call school and TALK with an office staff member. Our phone number is 571-252-2360.
11. How do I send in lunch money?
